  • Victor – Singing & Piano

    Teacher

Born in Shorncliffe, Victor moved to Russell Island at the age of five and had his first singing and piano lessons there. In secondary school he studied with the Brisbane pianist Arthur do Rozario and music theory with Dr Norbert Novotny. After high school he worked as a musician at the old La Boite Theatre and with the Oz People (children's theatre), as well as working with singers and in cabaret. After some years in the Public Service, he returned to study at the Qld Conservatorium and gained a Bachelor of Music in 1998. He has worked at the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts (1999-2006) as accompanist and teacher. He is also a composer of original music performed at the Darwin International Guitar Festival and by the Song Company (Sydney). He moved back to Russell Island in 2010 and looks forward to taking part in future musical activities here in the Redlands. Victor is interested in many different styles of music: Broadway and theatre music, blues, rock, pop, country, funk, opera, classical and contemporary art music. At present he is assembling a programme of blues music for solo piano performance when time permits. He is greatly enjoying the chance to share music-making with his students
